My "Challenge Tame" Experience

I love my hunter, and she's second only to my main. I'm always wanting more pets, and narrowing down which ones to keep is difficult. I generally pick just based on what looks nice to me (which is why I have way too many cats). When the Challenge Tames were released this last patch, I thought it sounded cool, but wasn't overly interested in any of them. I already have Gondria, so I have my ghosty glowy cat urge satisfied. Whilst looking them over, I thought the purple/blue spider looked pretty neat, but his tame sounded awful to do. I decided not to go out of my way for it.

On the off chance that I spotted one of the two glowy kitties, I kept a pet slot open, cause I can never have enough cats. While doing my Molten Front dailies, my Silver Dragon goes off (oddly enough this was the first day I used the addon after reinstalling it). It was Deth'tilac, the neat purpley bluey spider. I figured, he's there, so why not test my huntery skills?

Read more...Collapse )

As I rounded the Forelorn Spire for the nth time, the unexpected happened. Someone stopped what they were doing and started attacking the big scary spider. I thought that was nice of them, every little kick in Deth'tilac's butt would help. Then another person joined in. Then another, and another. Soon I had 7 people following along as I kited, and his hp was dropping at a much steadier rate. After about an hour of going at this alone and having countless people pass me by, this was a surprise.

As soon as the accursed 'untamable' spider hit 20%, I popped Ancient Hysteria, Distracting Shot, Deterrence, and Tame Beast. The 7 seconds it took was agonizing, as I could just picture the mob evade bugging, or someone stealing the tame, or that I'd just get bashed into a pulp before the cast finished. But it finished without issues, and I finally got my Neat Purple/Blue Spider.

I'd had plenty of time to think up a name while kiting. Deth'tilac has a couple abilities with a Deth theme. Aura of Deth'spair, Deth Strike, and Deth Metal. He practically named himself.

I guess I'm mushy, but it seriously warmed my heart that so many people dropped what they were doing to stick around and help a complete stranger, and expect nothing in return (though they definately got my sincerest thanks).

So now for the discussion part! Community, I want to hear your heart warming stories of WoW. Interesting challenge tame stories are cool too, but it doesn't have to be about them. Something fun and positive to discuss on a rainy day, go!

Recipe: Hashbrown Casserole

So I've decided to write up some recipes I like into this here journal for anyone who cares to see and try them. If you do, it'd be nice if you let me know how it went.

So...here's an easy recipe that I love, to start off.

1 package of Hash Browns, thawed
1 380g package of Shredded Cheese (I like Cheddar, but use what you like)
1 can of Cream of ______ Soup (I prefer Chicken, but once again you can use what you like)
1 500ml tub of Sour Cream (You can use Mayo in place of this if you want)

Mix all the ingredients together in a casserole dish or roasting pan, making sure that the wet ingredients fully coat the hash browns. Cover the dish and bake approx. 45 minutes at 350F (cook times vary based on oven and how thawed hash browns are). Hash browns should still be somewhat moist when they're fully cooked.

Serve it up with a fresh salad and your favorite cold cuts on the side. For variety, try adding chopped onions, peppers, or celery, changing up the soup or cheese type, or topping with crushed corn flakes for crunch. This casserole goes great with ketchup.

Did you like this recipe? Let me know in a comment.

Le Sigh

My sister wanted a puppy. Despite my advice on adopting from shelters or at least finding an actual registered breeder, she goes ahead and gets a puppy from a backyard breeder because "it has to be a puppy" and she wants one for free.

Sometimes when I talk to people it feels like I'd be more productive just banging my head against a wall. But hey, that's my family...pets are just a novelty and only given minimum consideration and care.

Just...ugh, FFS.
